Selank
Selank is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide derived from tuftsin, a naturally occurring immune-related peptide fragment. It has been studied primarily for anxiety-related and neurobiological effects, with most human research originating outside the United States.
What Is Selank?
Selank is the synthetic heptapeptide Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro. It was developed from tuftsin and has been investigated for potential effects involving anxiety, stress response, cognition, and neuroimmune signaling.
Small human studies have evaluated intranasal Selank in patients with anxiety-related disorders. Published research has reported anxiolytic effects, but the overall clinical evidence base remains limited and is not comparable with the large development programs typically required for U.S. drug approval.
Selank is not an FDA-approved drug in the United States.

What Does the Research Show?
A 2008 randomized study involving 62 patients with generalized anxiety disorder or neurasthenia compared Selank with medazepam. The investigators reported similar anxiolytic effects between the groups, along with additional antiasthenic and psychostimulant findings in the Selank group.
Other small clinical studies have compared Selank with phenazepam or evaluated it alongside conventional anxiety treatment. These studies reported anxiety-related improvements, but they were relatively small and much of the literature was published in Russian-language journals.
These findings provide human research signals, but they do not establish Selank as an FDA-approved treatment for anxiety or prove benefits for everyday stress, focus, mood, memory, or cognitive enhancement.
